Dhaka CALLING project is an initiative to promote active citizenship and coalition of poor and marginalized Dhaka City dwellers to address environmental pollution issues resulting from the city-waste management in their communities.

It is a consortium project, led by Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) and the other Consortia members are Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARSIK), Coalition for the Urban Poor (CUP) and Institute of Innovations for Gender & Humanitarian Transformations (inSights). The project is being implemented under USAID and FCDO funded “Promoting Advocacy and Rights (PAR) Activity” instigated by Counterpart International.

The project is being planned with a vision to improve the implementation and enforcement of environmental laws and rules in response to pollution-focused community-identified needs of pollution in the two wards of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and two wards in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The specific implementing area of the Dhaka CALLING project is Molla Bosti (Ward-6, Mirpur in DNCC), Korail Bosti (Ward-19 Banani in DNCC), Balurmath Bosti and Boubazar Bosti (Ward 14 & 55, Hazaribag, DSCC)

The project is planned for two years of duration (January 2021-December 2022) to ensure that residents of slums enjoy a healthy environment as a result of the proper execution of laws and policies.
